(NEWARK, NJ – May 21, ) During these times of hardship, PSE&G reminds its customers that energy assistance is available to households that meet certain income guidelines and other eligibility requirements. Customers can apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) until July 31, The State of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs administers the LIHEAP program through bank of the rockies emigrant montana state-designated agencies.

To be eligible for LIHEAP benefits, the applicant’s household gross income must meet the monthly income limits listed below, and recipients must re-apply each year. For example, a family of four with an income of $4, or less per month may be eligible and should apply.

How the Penalty Fees Work

PSEG does not clearly list penalty fees on the main website, but we found a brochure from the company online listing several fees, including:

  • Late payment charge: Customers not paying bills on-time are subject to a % late payment charge. The total fee is based on the billed amount.
  • Returned check fee: PSEG charges $15 per returned check. This fee is will be charged in addition to any bank fees charged by your bank.
  • Field collection charge: If PSEG sends a collection agent to your home, a service charge of $30 will be added to the total amount due.
